Western North Carolina Weekly Fishing Report

This week's fishing report includes forecasted rain and lower average temperatures than last week should help to bring water levels up and cool things down in Western North Carolina. With temperatures still reaching the high 70s during the day we recommend getting out there as early as possible and checking water temperatures before fishing. If those water temps are in the high 60s or 70s, it is recommended that you do not fish. If that’s the case, get outside of Boone and check out some of the higher elevation streams off of the Blue Ridge Parkway and try to find some Brookies. 

Fishing those tight streams with a lot of canopy cover can be tricky, especially when trying to get your fly in there. Try a bow and arrow cast. Using a length of line or leader about the same as length as your rod, hold your fly between two fingers and pull back just like a bow and arrow and release. Careful not to hook your finger on the release.
